At Young Americans for Liberty, we’re always busy—and that’s a good thing! With over 500 chapters now around the country, there is always plenty of work to be done advancing freedom on our nation’s college campuses.

However, this week is sure to be even busier than usual—and again, that’s a good thing! The reason? We’re only a few days away from the 6th annual Young Americans for Liberty National Convention in Arlington, VA! This is set to be the biggest event in YAL’s history, and we couldn’t be more excited. This year’s convention will bring together more than 325 young leaders representing over 220 YAL chapters from all 50 states.

The YAL National Convention is an invitation-only event for the top youth activists in the liberty movement. There, we give them the training and know-how to spread the philosophy of freedom on their campuses and in their communities. This is where we take the ideas of freedom and put them into practice.

This year’s convention attendees will get to hear from a star-studded speaker list including Dr. Ron Paul,YAL_Photo1 Sen. Rand Paul, Rep. Thomas Massie, Glenn Greenwald, Dr. Thomas Woods, Lawrence Reed, Bruce Fein, and many, many more. When they’re not hearing from the greatest minds in the liberty movement or attending training sessions, our attendees will be networking, learning, and having fun! You can view the entire convention schedule here. (And you can thank our Director of Events, Lauren Evans, for putting together such an amazing schedule!)

I am particularly excited to hear Dr. Ron Paul’s address at this year’s convention. While the goals of the YAL National Convention have been the same since our first such event in 2009, the format of the event has changed over the years due to the growth in our organization. Throughout all this growth, one constant has been Dr. Paul. He has made a point to attend every single convention since our very first one. Dr. Paul’s consistent presence at our keynote event demonstrates his commitment to the youth in—and future of—the liberty movement. Those who want to learn more about Dr. Paul’s belief in our mission can read his endorsement of Young Americans for Liberty.

One of the new additions to this year’s convention will be a special video address by Glenn Greenwald, renowned lawyer, journalist, and Edward Snowden confidant. In June, we announced our “Ask Glenn” campaign, through which YAL members could ask questions to be personally answered by Mr. Greenwald. Students have asked all sorts of questions, ranging from his opinion on net neutrality to his correspondence with Edward Snowden to recent decisions by the US Supreme Court. We’ll have to wait until his video address to find out which questions he chooses to answer!

TheseYAL_Photo3-350x183 are just a few of the highlights from this year’s convention schedule. Honestly, right now I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve—I just can’t wait to get started!

While I’m excited to spend time with Dr. Paul and our many other amazing speakers, the people I’m most excited to see are the young leaders of the liberty movement who are coming from all corners of our nation to train, learn, and exchange ideas.

Keep your eyes and ears open for news about this year’s event. It won’t be long before I’m filing what I’m sure will be an amazing convention report!
