The Deep, Lasting Scars of World War I

Tooley is the author of “The Western Front: Battle Ground and Home Front in the First World War,” and responded to questions include what it was like for society after the loss of so many lives in WWI.

The scars of the war are pretty deep in all directions. The physical and economic, and the sort-of moral scars are very deep.
