August 5, 2015 – Campaign for Liberty’s Vice President for Policy Norm Singleton recently wrote about a mother in Michigan who, after refusing to give her daughter potentially harmful psychotropic drug, was punished by Child Protective Services. The agency attempted to take her daughter.
This case is similar to that of 16-year-old Justina Pelletier, who was labeled a “ward of the state”and taken from her family when they questioned the diagnosis of her medical problems as being psychological. According to Singleton, these cases happen all too often. As such, U.S. Representative Steve Stockman (R-Texas) introduced the Parental Protection Act, which would prevent taxpayer dollars from going to medical facilities, hospitals and state agencies or entities for specific purposes.
