Ex-DIA Chief Admits Rise of Islamic State ‘A Willful Decision’

“Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them,

or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.”

August 10, 2015—Is it treason to give aid and comfort to al Qaeda? The former chief of the Defense Intelligence Agency, Michael T. Flynn, doesn’t seem too worried about the answer.

Though Mehdi Hasan, the al Jazeera interviewer, didn’t quite put it as pointedly, Flynn’s rationalizations show it’s becoming more mainstream to accept the reality that the US government and military has allied with al Qaeda to topple the Syrian government.

From Levant Report:

As Michael Flynn also previously served as director of intelligence for Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) during a time when its prime global mission was dismantling Al-Qaeda, his honest admission that the White House was in fact arming and bolstering Al-Qaeda linked groups in Syria is especially shocking given his stature.

Consider further the dissonance that comes with viewing the Pentagon’s former highest ranking intelligence officer in charge of the hunt for Osama bin Laden now calmly and coolly confessing that the United States directly aided the foot soldiers of Ayman al-Zawahiri beginning in at least 2012 in Syria.

One wonders if this will come up again in the presidential campaign. Senator Rand Paul made the case against arming al Qaeda from the earliest reports of its secret ongoings.
