June 10, 2016—Edward Snowden, the former NSA contractor who became widely famous for his revelations on how the US government had a series of secretive surveillance programs targeting innocent Americans, was recently featured in an episode of HBO’s ‘State of Surveillance’.
During the interview with VICE News’ founder Shane Smith, Snowden shows viewers some of the US government’s real capabilities, and takes the opportunity to teach them how they should proceed to protect themselves from Big Brother.
When asked is if there’s a way smartphone users are able to identify whether their phone has been hacked, Snowden says that “perhaps, the most terrifying thing is, if your phone had been hacked, you would never know.”
